SHORT ANSWER

Rights holders report counterfeit AliExpress listings through the Alibaba International IP Protection Platform at ipp.aidcgroup.net. You verify your identity and a registered trademark, then submit a complaint that selects AliExpress, the right, the reason and up to 300 listing URLs. Occasional filers can use the online form instead, for up to 50 listings.

To report a counterfeit on AliExpress, you use the Alibaba International IP Protection Platform (IPP) at ipp.aidcgroup.net, the same system that handles Alibaba.com, Lazada and Miravia. Once your identity and a registered trademark are verified, a single complaint can cover up to 300 AliExpress listings. If you only need to report a few listings once, the IPP's online form accepts up to 50 per submission without an account.

This guide covers what AliExpress treats as infringement, the evidence to prepare, each step from account to complaint, how long reviews take and why complaints get rejected. For the other Alibaba marketplaces, see our guide to reporting counterfeits on Alibaba and AliExpress.

What AliExpress considers an infringement

AliExpress's IP rules, last revised in English on January 16, 2025, prohibit listing or selling products that infringe trademarks, copyrights or patents. They sort cases by type and seriousness, and the category affects the penalty the seller receives.

Type What it covers Penalty for the seller
Serious trademark violation A mark identical or very similar to a registered trademark, on the same class of product or its packaging Account closure after three violations, or after one in extreme or malicious cases
General trademark violation Other unauthorized uses of a trademark No points the first time, 6 points per repeat, closure at 48 points
Copyright Pirated products, or unauthorized use of protected images or text in the listing No points the first time, 6 points per repeat, closure at 48 points
Patent Invention, utility model, design patent and design infringement Points as above, or closure after three serious violations

Two details from the rules are useful when you plan a batch of complaints. General violations and copyright cases within one day add no more than 6 points in total, and serious violations within three days count as one. Filing many complaints at once therefore does not multiply the penalty for a seller. Violations stay on the seller's record for 365 days.

Counterfeit or lookalike?

A counterfeit carries your trademark. A product that only looks like yours, without your brand, is a trademark case only if your mark appears in the title or images. Otherwise it may be a design or copyright case. Our guide to counterfeits and knockoffs explains the difference.

What evidence you need

  • Identity. A business license for a company, or a passport, national ID card or driver's license for an individual.
  • A verified trademark. The registration certificate, plus the renewal certificate if it was renewed. Pending applications are not accepted.
  • Authorization, if you are an agent. A letter of authorization signed or stamped by the rights holder that covers online IP enforcement.
  • The listing URLs. Full AliExpress product links, one per line, checked to be still live.
  • A dated capture of each page. Listings change and disappear. A capture shows what was offered when you found it.
  • An objective basis. The IPP asks for information showing that you reviewed the listing and have a real reason to call the product counterfeit. A test purchase compared with your product is strong evidence. If the seller blurred or removed your logo in the photos, point to the exact image and add an unaltered photo for comparison.

Our IPP evidence checklist lists every document and its format.

The official reporting procedure

AliExpress complaints go to the Alibaba International IPP. It offers three channels:

Channel Best for Limit
IPP account Brands that report regularly Up to 300 links per complaint
Online form Occasional reports, or while an account is being verified Up to 50 listings per submission
Email to aidc-ipr@alibaba-inc.com Rights holders who plan to go to court or to the authorities afterwards Notice plus prima facie evidence

You can register on the IPP with an email address or sign in with an existing AliExpress account. The IPP interface is available in Chinese, English, Korean and Spanish.

How to report a counterfeit on AliExpress, step by step

  1. Check your rights. You need a registered trademark that you own or are authorized to enforce. Rights are territorial, so the mark should be valid where the listing is offered.
  2. Open an IPP account. Go to ipp.aidcgroup.net, click Sign In, then Register. Use a shared address such as enforcement@yourcompany.com: the login email cannot be changed later.
  3. Verify your identity. Under Account Setting, complete your identity information and upload the document. Fill in both contact blocks: one is shown to the sellers you report, the other is only for Alibaba.
  4. Verify the trademark. Under My IPR, choose IPR Submission, select Trademark and the country of registration, enter the details and upload the certificate. Submit each trademark separately.
  5. Collect the evidence. Save the listing URLs, captures, store names and your comparison or test purchase notes.
  6. Start the complaint. Choose Complaint Submission, then Submit a Complaint, and select AliExpress as the platform.
  7. Fill in the complaint. Select Trademark as the IPR type, pick your verified trademark and choose the reason, such as Counterfeit. Describe what shows the product is not genuine and attach your evidence.
  8. Add and verify the links. Paste the listing URLs and click Verify Listings. Fix any link that fails before you submit.
  9. Submit and keep the case number. Each complaint receives one. You will need it for any question to Alibaba.
  10. Follow the case. Under Manage Complaints, select AliExpress and open Check complaint details to see the case records and any seller response.

How long AliExpress takes to review a complaint

The IPP publishes estimates. Verifying a new account and its first right takes about three working days. Complaint review generally takes three to five working days. After a complaint is accepted, the seller has up to three opportunities to appeal, and the platform reviews the materials from both sides each time, so a contested case takes longer.

The IPP also notes that some products are not deleted right away because sellers are given time to submit supporting materials. The status in your account is the reliable reference.

Common reasons complaints are rejected

  • Links that fail validation. More than 300 links, incomplete URLs, listings already removed, duplicates of links in another open complaint, or AliExpress.ru links.
  • The right is not verified or not valid there. A pending application, an expired registration without proof of renewal, or a mark registered only in a country unrelated to the listing.
  • The wrong reason. A copied photo reported as a counterfeit. Photo misuse is a copyright case.
  • No objective basis. A low price alone rarely convinces a reviewer. Explain what differs from your genuine product.
  • A genuine product. Resale of genuine goods, a compatibility claim or a fair reference to your brand is not accepted as infringement.

If the seller files a counter-notice and the platform accepts it, the listing stays online unless you rebut it. Our guide to counter-notices and rejected complaints explains what to do next.

The limits of reporting by hand

The IPP acts only on the URLs you paste into it. AliExpress sellers often reuse your product photos without your brand name in the title, so keyword searches miss many copies. The same product also tends to appear on several stores at once and to return under a new listing after a removal. Keeping track of which URLs you reported, which were removed and which came back quickly outgrows a spreadsheet.

How Valigard can help before you report

Valigard searches AliExpress and other marketplaces worldwide with your official product photos, so it finds listings that reuse them even when your brand name is absent. For each listing you mark as likely counterfeit, it keeps the URL, a saved and timestamped copy of the page, the price, the store name and whether the listing was later removed or relisted. Inside the app, the AliExpress reporting guide lists what to have ready, and Valigard prepares report text you can paste into the IPP. See Valigard for AliExpress for what it covers.

Valigard does not send reports: you file on the IPP, then log the status and case number. It does not determine with legal certainty that a product is counterfeit, and it cannot guarantee that AliExpress will remove a listing.

Frequently asked questions

How do I report a seller on AliExpress for selling fakes?

If you own the brand, file a complaint on the Alibaba International IPP at ipp.aidcgroup.net, which handles intellectual property complaints for AliExpress. If you are a buyer who received a fake, contact AliExpress about your order instead: the IPP is designed for rights holders and their authorized agents.

Can I report AliExpress listings without an account?

Yes. The IPP online form is meant for rights holders who report occasionally and accepts no more than 50 listings per submission. For regular reporting, an account is better: it saves your verified rights, accepts up to 300 links per complaint and generally leads to faster responses, according to the platform.

Does AliExpress remove a listing as soon as I report it?

Not always. The complaint is reviewed first, generally within three to five working days according to the IPP, and the seller can file a counter-notice. Some listings stay online while the platform waits for the seller's supporting materials, so check the status of each case.

Can I report AliExpress.ru listings on the IPP?

No. AliExpress.ru is a separate operating company, and the Alibaba International IPP rejects its links. The IPP FAQ directs rights holders to AliExpress Russia's own intellectual property page or its IPR protection email address for those listings.

What happens to a seller after a successful complaint?

AliExpress applies its IP penalty rules. A serious trademark violation counts toward account closure after three violations, and general violations add 6 points per repeat, with termination at 48 points. In intentional or malicious cases, AliExpress can also claim liquidated damages of at least RMB 45,000.
